Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year. We are anticipating 850 students this year. Of our seventy teachers in the building five will be new to Washburn Rural Middle School.

The inside of the building has a new look with new lockers installed. The lockers are larger than our old lockers and should be able to accommodate middle school student's complete materials. The rest of the carpeting project should be complete by the start of school. Quite frankly the custodial crew has done a wonderful job of making a twenty year old building look new!

Our building addition is on schedule and we hope to take possession of the new cafeteria around mid October. The construction company will then start remodeling our old cafeteria and serving areas into a band room and special needs classrooms.

I encourage you to attend Open House on Thursday, August 27th, at 6:00 PM. This will give you an opportunity to meet your child's teachers and learn about the curriculum they will be taught this school year.
