Last fall Washburn Rural Middle School created a small business where students with disabilities could learn about
producing a product, selling a product, and money management. The business involves making unique greeting cards. The
cards are made using recycled paper from the school. The process involves shredding the paper, mixing with water,
pressing, and decorating the cards. The students have created a variety of cards for special occasions and holidays,
including Valentine's Day. Each card is an individual work of art. The card project was started through a Classroom
Grant from the Auburn-Washburn Public Schools Foundation. The school is selling the cards to raise money so the program
can continue. The cards are $1.00 and come with an envelope.
The spolight of the week is to highlight information that is being provided on the Washburn Rural Middle School website.
This week's spotlight is on Mr. Garland. Mr. Garland teaches Physical Education at WRMS. His website offers information
